About Sail Windermere

Where are we based?

Sail Windermere, Windermere Marina Village, Bowness-on-Windermere LA23 3JQ

The boat

The boat is a Beneteau 21 of which there are around 50 on lake Windermere. It is the ideal teaching boat as it is responsive but also very safe. It has a sleek modern design which is stable while still allowing fun and enjoyable sailing.

Lifejackets are provided and we have a range of spare jackets and over trousers to keep you warm and dry. I recommend you bring your own waterproofs and a hat, but spares are available. The Beneteau 21 has a cabin at the front to shelter from the weather and store the picnic.

The skipper

Hi - I hope you come and join me for a sail on Lake Windermere. My name is Chris Plumb

Teaching sailing is a real passion for me and there is nothing so rewarding as seeing someone get the hang of sailing for the first time. I have worked with people of all ages and at different sailing schools including Tower Wood, The Outward Bound, Windermere School and Royal Windermere Yacht Club. I hope to meet you soon

The Lake

Lake Windermere is the largest lake in England. We are based at the central point so we have a choice to go north or south.
